In conjunction with AMN Healthcare, the title sponsor of this year's Finest Awards, HCC is pleased to invite students to participate in the 9thAnnual HCC/AMN Scholarship Essay Contest. Joshua Yang Receives 8th Annual HCC/AMN Healthcare Scholarship Award

Health Care Communicators of San Diego County (HCC) and AMN Healthcare proudly announce Joshua Yang as the recipient of the 8^th annual HCC/AMN Healthcare Scholarship Award. Joshua received a $1,500 scholarship at HCC’s annual Finest Awards dinner event, held at the Hard Rock Hotel on April 21, 2011.

A senior at University City High School, Joshua is an outstanding student and longtime volunteer at the Arthritis Foundation. For the past five years, he has helped raise awareness about arthritis in an effort to control and ultimately cure this disease. As a volunteer coordinator for the Arthritis Walk of San Diego County, Joshua recruited other youth volunteers and was honored with an “Outstanding Volunteer Award” by the Arthritis Foundation due to his commitment, determination and passion.

Joshua has served as an officer in the California Scholarship Federation and has been the lead tutor at his high school for more than two years. For his excellent and tireless efforts, Joshua was honored with an “Outstanding Tutor Award” in 2010. Joshua excels academically and plans to pursue a bioengineering major in order to become a rheumatologist and clinical researcher. To achieve these goals and to help arthritis patients such as his mother, he has volunteered at Scripps Mercy Hospital since 2009. The HCC/AMN Healthcare Scholarship will aid Joshua in pursuing his academic goals when he starts college in the fall.

Each year, HCC and AMN Healthcare award one $1,500 scholarship to a high school senior or college student who is in good standing at a San Diego County school and plans to pursue a career in health care upon graduation. By providing this financial assistance, HCC and AMN Healthcare are helping to ensure the success of students like Joshua who want to make a difference through their work in the medical field.

Formed in 1977, Health Care Communicators of San Diego (HCC) was created to encourage the development of professionals in health care marketing, public relations, advertising and market research and planning, as well as to students in these fields of study. Our members represent a broad cross section of San Diego area professionals including hospitals and community clinics, health plans, medical device and pharmaceutical firms, advertising and public relations agencies, health care associations, freelance writers and graphic designers, video production firms and Web site developers.

From our informational luncheon meetings to our annual Finest Awards celebration, HCC gives members a variety of opportunities to network with their peers, share common interests, foster new professional relationships and learn about the latest trends and developments in health care communications.

Dues

Individual: $100 (Membership belongs to the individual and is kept regardless of employment)

Corporate: $100 (Membership belongs to the organization/position and can be transferred to another individual if employment status changes.)

Additional Corporate Memberships: $85 (For additional persons from the same organization. One full-price corporate membership must be purchased or currently active.)

Student: $25 (Currently enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a career in health care public relations, marketing, advertising or market research. Proof of enrollment is required.)

Vendor/Sponsor: $150 (HCC allows a restricted membership for individuals and companies interested in networking with our members who are not involved in the practice of public relations, marketing or market research. Vendor/Sponsor members are not eligible to run for the board or vote for officers. All other benefits apply.)

Heath Care Communicators of San Diego’s 2008 Finest Awards Presented by AMN Healthcare Congratulations to the 2008 Finest Awards winners! The winners for the 2008 HCC Finest Awards: Making Waves in Health Care Communications were announced on March 12 at the awards dinner. The evening of surprise and celebration took place at the beautiful Dana Hotel on Mission Bay, where 150 guests gathered. An esteemed panel of 15 judges from Health Care Public Relations and Marketing Association (HPRMA) of Orange County had over 160 submissions to pick from. Up to three awards were given in 9 categories. The categories included advertising campaigns, public relations campaigns, writing, publications/collateral/design, research, audio/visual programs, special events, online communication and off the wall (for projects that don't fall into any of the above categories).
